great point. the question is do we use our control of visual culture to defy convention or to uphold it?

sparking revolutions can be about creating new combinations to help brands and ideas live in a fresh way.

a lot of innovation in art has come from fresh means to express universal human truths.

look at the impact that a technical innovation like digital photography. photography has recaptured the imagination and been rediscovered as the voice of a generation. technical innovations come slowly to the art world...i'd say advertising is similarly conservative.
